Currently Watching #2

Even though I haven't had much time to sit and watch shows, there is no way in hell I won't find 45mins or so a week to get an episode in.
So today, since I haven't done one of these in a while, I thought I'd share with you what I have been watching lately!

Riverdale

By far my biggest obsession at the moment! I binge watched the first 7 episodes in two days and lost a good few hours of sleep because of it, but I couldn't care less.
I find the show super fun and refreshing, kind of like a breath of fresh air. It's extremely entertaining, yet messages like girl empowerment and such are deeply routed in the script, making it a great experience over all.
And let me just tell you, Veronica is freaking AWESOME!

The Magicians

Okay so actually, I am just about to start season two. As in, that is what I will do right after I finish this post.
I fell in complete love with the first season of this series, it just has such a great concept to it! I love the characters and OMG am I exited to know what the heck happens now because that season finale was mental!!!

Love Rain

I started watching this kdrama a while back and had to let it go after the first 3 or 4 episodes because I just had no time for 1 hour long episodes. But I have recently picked it back up and am I glad!
I'm currently about to start episode 9 and oh the feels... it's such a cute, sweet, funny and just all around lovely story.

Trickster

It was completely random why I started watching this, I was just bored and going trough MyAnimeList and saw this anime that was still airing and that seemed to have a good plot and I just gave it a try!
Kind of like Love Rain, I stopped watching for a bit (this time I just forgot about it really) and I've recently picked it back up. The story hasn't developed immensely yet (I'm only on episode 6) but it's really fun to watch. And I have a feeling it will get better...

Well guys that was it for today, hope you had fun reading this post!
Question: what are YOU currently watching??

Top 5 Songs of RN #6

I'm a day late, ups!
I hope I can post next week but I'm just letting you know that I have a show on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for my course, and we're working on it all week, so I might just miss next week! Show weeks are insane!!

Anyway, let's get into the post!

1. Cover Up - Taeyeon

Taeyeon's new album is THE BOMB!!
I love every single song, but right now this one is the one I've had on repeat the most. It's so fun and exiting, I love it!

2. KARD - Don't Recall

One of the best things that has happened to Kpop recently!
We hadn't see a group with both boys and girls work in ages, but the wait was worth it! They're 1st song was great, and this new one doesn't disappoint at all!

3. Year and Years - Shine

I heard this song at the super market (yeah I know!) and I knew I had to find it! After some research, voilà!! Years and Years keep coming out with great songs, so no exception here.

4. Moana - We Know The Way

Moana is by far my favorite Disney film of all time (huuuge statement, I know!). The whole soundtrack is just amazing, and even though How Far I'll Go has a special place in my heart, recently this song has been my jam!

5. Spring Awakening - The Word Of You Body

Remember I said I'm in a show? This is it!
I'll be honest, I have many issues with some of the script and songs of this show, but overall it has grown on me. And I adore this song! It's by far my favorite from the whole soundtrack.
It's been a crazy process getting this show done, let me tell you, but I can't wait to get on stage and perform it! (If anyone is curious, I'm playing Thea and I adore her, she is such a fun character!)

Well that is it for today! Hope you liked this post!
What's your current favorite song?
Tell me in the comments!!

My Favorite Podcasts

As usual, today I'm here to share with you guys what my latest obsession is: Podcasts.
I've only really started getting into them for the last 3 or 4 months and yeah, I know what you're thinking: "Have you been living under a rock Ella? Podcasts are the trend!". Yes yes, I am aware. But to be honest, they didn't sound that appealing to me at first!
But after hearing so many people rave about how enriching it was to listen to some wise mind speak for however many minutes while you get ready, eat or clean the house, I thought I'd give it a try!
And am I glad I did!!

I'll leave you guys with my top 3 podcasts that I just can't get enough of!

1. The Lavendaire Lifestyle

By far, my favorite!
I love Aileen's YouTube channel, and I have for a while, so when I heard she had a podcast I just had to check it out!´
She has become a irreplaceable companion of my morning routine. All of the subjects she talks about, from self love to motivation and Minimalism, speak to me and interest me, and the way she talks make you feel like she is an old friend that is just standing with you having a nice heart to heart conversation.
Also, I love the fact that she keeps challenging us to make our own lives our masterpieces, and that she uses the term "artist of life" to describe us humans.
Reminds you of the beauty of being alive.

2. Happier with Gretchen Rubin

This is actually the 1st podcast I ever listened to!
I was reading The Happiness Project, by Gretchen Rubin, and loving it so much I wanted more! So I researched the author and came across this podcast. With how much I adored the book, I just had to try listening to it. Plus, it would be very fun and interesting to hear her voice for a change!
The podcast touched on tons of different subjects, all somewhat related to trying to make our lives happier.
Weather you're going trough a tough time, or feel totally fine, there's always room to grow! And that's what Rubin is all about.

3. Ladies Who Lunch

Another YouTuber! Are you surprised? Didn't think so either!
I have been an avid fan of Ingrid's for almost 5 years now, she is beautiful, brave, honest, kind, raw and real; all qualities I love.
I've watched her videos religiously for ages, and so there was no way I was going to miss out on some more Nislen magic and  not give this podcast a try!
Cat Valdes, owner of a popular channel herself, is also super fun to listen to, and these two girl's friendship comes across amazingly trough just their voices.
They talk a little bit about everything, but sex and sexuality is a very recurrent topic. In a society that has become as deeply ruled by sex as ours, having people out there who speak seriously but smoothly and comfortably about the subject is a huge blessing.

Do you listen to podcasts? Why?
If yes, what's your favorite?

Current Reads #3

hey hey hey!

It's once again time for me to update you guys, my wonderful readers, about the books that I have been devouring lately!
And side note, I'm nearly finished with The Happiness Project (mentioned on Current Reads #2) so I didn't include it here!

Well, without further a do, let's get into the books!

#GIRLBOSS

I am literally obsessed with this book!
I have been getting more and more into non-fiction "self help" like books for the past few months, mostly do to The Happiness Project, and this one is a favorite among YouTuber and milenial creatives.
Amoruso's writing style is by far my favorite thing about the book. It's easy to read, real and raw, serious yet funny. It feels like you're being given advice by an older sister. It barely feels like you're reading, it's more like you're just have a conversation.
Her stories are inspiring and give you perspective on your own life, and weather you agree with all of her tips and life lessons or not, I'm sure you'll learn a lot by reading this book.

Spy For The Queen Of Scots

You might recognize this book from Current Reads #1...
Truth is, after being really exited about it for around half of the book, it bored me. I forgot about it millions of times and honestly, I just wasn't in the mood for fiction at the time.
But I recently picked it up again and after a few chapters, the story has picked up its pace and I'm back to being super exited about reading it! Plus, I'm starting to need more fiction in my life again.
If the story keeps moving like this, I should be finished with it pretty soon!

Bad Girls Don't Die

I have been mening to read this book for ages, ever since Bella Thorne and Zendaya Coleman made the trailers for the second and third books of this series and got me super curious about it!
I bought a few months ago but, again because of my lack of want to read fiction, I didn't pick it up for a while.
It is meant to be a bit scary, which has me going into it with a cautious mind (I HATE HORROR), but I am really into the plot and it really is the perfect kind of book for this weather - the UK right now is the definition of gloomy.
I'm exited to see what comes out of this book since it seems to be pretty outside of my comfort zone! I probably just won't read it in the dark...

I hope you enjoyed this post!

What have you been reading? Have you read any of these books?
Let me know in the comments!

Doctors: Kdrama Review

Doctors is a compelling, sweet and emotional story, with an even more brilliant cast. I lost count of the amount of times this drama made me cry. And I loved it.
It’s been a while since I’d felt so invested and connected to a story. And it’s definitely a lot due to the actors’ performances.

Park Shin Hye was simply her amazing self, doing  amazing things. She was born to be an actress, of that I have no doubt. She is my all-time favourite actor, women and men included. There is no other that can inspire me and make me feel as much as she does. Her dedication and belief in her characters makes me forget that they are actually not real. I feel for her characters like I would for a friend. I admire her immensely, and I can only thank her for providing so many emotions and beautiful (and beautifully brutal) scenes to us.

Kim Rae Won played by far my favourite kdrama male character I’ve seen so far. Hong Ji Hong was such a beautiful character, and I don’t think anyone else in the world would have made him justice. He was brilliant. Simple, real, raw and, somehow, so perfect, all flaws included. The character’s way of giving and receiving love, his acceptance of others and sense of justice was something like no other I had ever seen.

Truly, I extremely praise the whole cast. Yoon Gyun Sang, annoying, hilarious and extremely sweet as Jung Yoon Do; Lee Sung Kyung, who I had never heard of, and who surprised me immensely – there is no way to describe how much I hated and loved  Jin Seo Woo; Moon Ji In’s hysterical performance (Chun Soon Hee was definitely the character that made me laugh the most, along with Ahn Jong Dae!);  Kim Min Suk’s completely unexpected and intense acting (probably the most intense and sudden change in a character I have seen in a whie); and many many many others! Baek Sung Hyun, Lee Sun Ho, Jang Hyeon Seong, Yoo Da In, Uhm Hyo Seop, Lee Ho Jae, Ji Soo… I could go on forever!

Even minor roles and patients, like the father and the two kids (literally, most adorable pair of children ever!!) or the newly married couple were just amazing!
I’m so glad I got to experience such a thing! It’s beautiful when all the efforts of the cast, together with the efforts or the crew, producers, director, etc. end up in something like this.
I truly loved this drama. It made me cry, laugh, and smile dearly, sometimes in the same 2 minutes. To me, that’s a good thing!

I sincerely thank you all who were a part of this drama. You made me feel.  You made me think. You made me happy.
THANK YOU.

As performance student myself, that’s what I aim to do one day. Ultimately, all I want is to make people happy. And it’s people like this that inspire me to do so.

Did you watch Doctors? If you did, tell me what you thought in the comments!
And if not... watch it!! You won't regret it!

Barcelona Diaries: Where To Eat

On my last post I spoke about La Boqueria, Barcelona's wonderful market.
But if you though that was it when it comes to my food experiences worth mentioning in this city, think again! As an avid foodie that I am, eating was a big part of this trip!
And of course my best friend was a huge influence in this, or else she wouldn't be a baker!

So here you have it, some of my favorite places to eat in Barcelona.

Brunch & Cake

By far our favorite place to eat! Me and Cate have an unreal obsession with brunch, it's our favorite meal! She had heard of this place from a friend and we knew we just had to try it when I visited!
The food is just amazing, well presented and really not that pricey at all!
We had some Eggs Benedict with Turkey on Waffle and some Fresh Farm Yogurt with Fruits and Granola, and both dishes were incredible. And pretty healthy, which is a huge plus!
Oh, and their vanilla lattes are to die for!
Besides, all of their plates and the place itself are 100% Instagram worthy, which is always a plus!
Definitely recommend you check this place out if you ever find yourself hungry in Barcelona.

Chök

If you have a sweet tooth like me, this one is for you!
Chök is heaven for anyone who loves sweets! And their specialty are the extremely yummy (and amazingly looking) cronuts! I had never tried one before, but it immediately became one of my favorite pastries ever. It's a crossover between a donut and a croissant and it is just the tastiest! We tried the oreo one and don't even get me started on how amazing it was.
Also, they have the cutest and most diverse amount of chocolate bars! I wanted to try them all...

Bubo

Let's keep the desert theme for a little longer shall we?
Again, you can tell I love sweets. And chocolate.
Bubo is the sweetest little thing, you can almost pass by it and leave it unnoticed since it is so small and discrete. But if you did, you would be making a huge mistake.
It is Barcelona's tribute to Parisian baking. Perfect portions, dainty details, macaroons, berries and loads of chocolate!
If you're in the mood for a treat, trust me, go in.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, as well as the other two in my Barcelona Diaries series.
What city should I visit next? Leave me your ideas in the comments!
