The Age Of Adaline

So, a couple of days ago I went to the cinema alone (for the 1st time ever actually, and I found it awesome!), and I decided to watch the new Blake Lively movie, The Age Of Adaline.

Ok, so 1st of all, I knew it was a romance, I watched the trailer and all. But I was expecting a lot more history, a "trough the times" type of thing, seeing Adaline in many different eras... and that wasn't it at all! Which kind of disappointed me... The romantic story itself could have been told in like 20mins, so I was expecting another approach, a more cultural and historical one, which I personally would have enjoyed very much.
And also, WTF is up with those explanations?? If they had just straight out said "she stopped aging by some miracle magic act" or something, I would have just accepted it and moved one. But trying to make a scientifically explanation out of some theory that's going to be found in 2025 or what not? What the heck!! It just bothered me the entire movie!
Finally, the last thing that I didn't like was the way the sound was made for the car crashes, they were FAR too loud! The entire movie has the right amount of silence and noise, and the right volume, except for those! Yeah, of course they'd be noisier, but do they have to blow my ears out???

Alright, now the good stuff!
1st, Blake Lively. That's it.
She is just amazing! I love the way she played the character, she has that perfect beauty and mystery that  makes total since for Adaline! She just did a great job!
Second, Ellis is HOT as hell!! There, I said it and it's true! And besides that, this character is that type of man that will leave all of us women sighting... Oh yeah! Romantic, but not cheesy, gallant, polite... And funny (he giving the flowers to the random passing by woman... too good!). He is cute as hell, and I do think the actor did a good job too, even though I feel like Blake stole everyone's show here.

Adaline is just a great character overall! She is the type of woman other women want to be. And the type of woman every men wants to date!
She is mysterious, cultured, beautiful, fascinating and complicated. And let's be honest, everyone loves that!
This is the type of character that gets stuck in my head long after the movie. Even if the actual film wasn't aaaaamazing, the character is enough to keep me thinking about it.
Plus, her fashion style is to die for!! All the vintage pieces, long skirts, Mary Jane's, ball dresses... her wardrobe is fantastic!!
And speaking of vintage, her character is full of little details like that! Her cell phone's ringtone (sounds just like an old phone), her makeup bag (which, I must say, is adorable!!), her photo albums (my baby albums are just like those actually! Cute!!)... there are so many little details that just make her character that much more charming!

And while we're in the details department, I'll have to say this movie had many that jumped to me!
Like the voice of the actor who plays Ellis' father when he was young... can you say ELVIS? I don't know who he is, but is voice is amazing!
Also, Blake Lively speaking Portuguese (or actually, a really strange version of my language... but hey, good effort! I'm Portuguese and I understood most of it so... I guess that's good!).

And, of course, my favorite thing in the movie (expect for the main character): the sense of humor!
It isn't an easy one, but then again, neither is mine... I know I'm not easy, mostly when it comes to movies. It's hard for me to say "I loved the humor in this movie", because I'm not too big of a fan of neither physical and/or stupid humor! It just doesn't work for me, I'm sorry. There are a few exceptions to the rule, of course, but they are few...
I like smart humor! I don't necessarily need to be scream laughing, I just enjoy those remarks that are made in an intelligent way, at the right moment and time, that turn into a funny moment! And this movie had tons of those!
You do have to push your intellect to get some though, but it's so worth it!
Stuff like "You've seen one, you've seen them all" when Adaline talks about her pictures, or "Stop to giver her a ride; I'd rather not get stabbed; That's my sister...", in the moment they were said, just made the movie´s script that much better!
The hidden smart jokes tho... Those were the best!!

Well guys, I hope you enjoyed this post!
