Book Review - Midnighters!

Hey guys!
So, I'm not really sure if I've ever done this before here, but I'm reviewing a book!

On a previous post I mentioned that I was reading a book called Midnighters and that it was getting me back into my reading habits!
And because I loved it so much, I thought I'd make a post talking about it!!

Writing:
Loved the writing style of this boo! Easy and simple, yet sophisticated. I did read it in Portuguese, because I got it at a book fair here. I do wish I'd have read it in English, because I like to read the actual words of the authors, and lots of the times the translations are awful! But I was lucky with this one, it was really nice!

Plot:
Pretty good! The idea of having an extra hour in the day where all time stops and you can just run freely sounds amazing! Ofc the crazy monsters are a but of a turn off... but still!
I will say it feels like this isn't talked about in enough depth, but still, since there are two books to go, I'd like to believe that those have more about the story of the secret hour!

Characters:
They were good!! I will say the character development isn't fantastic, but again, two more books to go so we'll see.
The main character, Jessica, has some pretty interesting characteristics. She is the new girl, and in such a small town that made her the "cool" girl, yet she seems like an outsider as well. She seems like your girl next door, yet, at the same time, it also feels like there's more to her than that.
Rex is your usual nerd with a bit of a control freak issue! Still, he's sweet. Kind of a needed cliche in my opinion.
Dess is my fav! Ironic, funny, seems like she owns the world and doesn't care about what anyone thinks, yet she does a little. She tries to have everyone getting along, which is one of my favorite things about her.
Melissa is straight out weird. She's the character you end up knowing less about. Hope that changes soon!
And Jonathan is your typical wild child with a lovely heart!
To me it seemed like all the characters had a purpose and served it very well! Still, I hope they get developed in the next books, cause they seem a little flat sometimes.

General: 4/5
Really liked the book, and I'm super thankful it got me back into reader mode!
Still, it wasn't a 5. But it was great nonetheless, and I do recommend it! It's an easy and fun read!
