So today I'm coming to you with yet another movie review (shocker!!!!).
Today's review in on the Oscar runner The Imitation Game, directed by Morten Tyldum.
The movies is set during the II Wold War and it follows mathematician Alan Turing and his fellow helpers on their quest to try to break the Enigma code, used by Germans, and win the war.
I really had high expectations on this movie, firstly because I have a thing for historical movies (let's just say they're on my top3 favorite genres, shall we?), and secondly because Benedict Cumberbatch is in it!!! (Hum, Sherlock anyone??)
I really adore him as an actor, Sherlock is an AMAZING show, and did you know he is actually the voice of Smaug and the Necromancer on The Hobbit movies??? To any Lord Of The Rings/Hobbit freak like me, that's like saying he's prince charming on a white horse!
He has done such a great job on all the projects I've seen him in, and I'm always looking for more!
And of course I was also super exited to see Keira Knightley!! No one can ever be indifferent to her!! She isn't just a natural beauty and a fashion icon, she's also a crazy talented actress!
When I heard she'd be in this movie, I became pretty exited to see what she'd do to her character, because, in my opinion, it's is pretty different from most of the roles I've seen her have.
Well I think she did a great job!! Of course Turing was the main character, therefore the most developed one, but still I think she was able to make her character stand out as well! To me, a job well done!
The plot was extremely interesting! I loved every second of the entire movie, it kept me on my toes and also it kept my brain going on and on and on! It's a really complex story (mostly because of all the explanations about the Enigma, which is really well enlightened matter by the way, so you're not watching the movie without having no idea of what they're talking about).
I really enjoyed the way the movie was directed, so I really wish I could congratulate Tyldum in person, because I do believe he deserves it!!
The end of the movie (no spoilers, don't worry) made me so mad and frustrated though! I won't tell you what happens or what the situation is because I think it has that much more impact if you go into it and have no idea.
But if you have seen the movie, or know Turing's story, please tell me you were as mad at the world as I was! It's just proves how unfair this place can be sometimes...
An advice to people who haven't watched the movie: watch it, and make sure to keep in mind trough out the entire movie that you have Alan Turin to thank for the fact that computers exist. OK? Now hurry and go watch the movie!!!!!
In the end, I give it a 5/5 (yap!!).
To me, it was perfect. Perfect plot, perfect actors, perfect direction, perfect way to really touch your heart and your mind... just PERFECT!
So I'll say it one last time (and then I'll leave you guys for today, promise!!): GO WATCH THE IMITATION GAME!!!
OK, I'll go now!! Ly guys!
